Episode 2 in the oatmeal series and I am going for a very obvious pairing. But, there is a reason it is so obvious. It works. I don’t really like having big chunks of banana in my oatmeal so to get round this, I completely mash it first. It really helps bring out the sweetness of the banana.
This is really the perfect breakfast. Every Saturday I do a long distance run (well, long distance for me – a warm up for others! Haha) and this gives me more than enough slow releasing energy.
I also used frozen blueberries for this for which I make no apology, but if you can, use fresh. It is Winter here (well it was when I write this) and blueberries are very much out of season.
A simple, tasty, satisfying breakfast.
- ½ cup of quick/porridge oats
- ¾ cup soy milk
- ½ cup water
- 1 banana
- handful blueberries
- In a bowl, mash a banana
- Add the oats, banana, blueberries, milk and water to a saucepan and put on a low to medium heat
- Using a soft spatula (or just wooden spoon if you don’t have one) keep stirring for about 5 minutes (or until the desired consistency has been reached)
- Serve as is or with extras
N.W.A “Straight Outta Compton”
I don’t think there could be an album less suited to a bowl of vegan oatmeal, but as I am not matching albums anymore and just recommending them, this is perfect!!! We have all seen the movie by now, a great movie, but just in case we are not all listening to the album, time to change that. They didn’t reach the levels they did because they were rapping about hating the police. If I did that, I wouldn’t get anywhere. There is a LOT of talent in this group. I LOVE this album. Straight Outta Brenchley indeed.
