I take a packed lunch to work most days and 9 out of 10 times, it will be some kind of mixed vegetable and plant based protein “bowl”. The thing that varies is the sauce or dressing I choose to have with it. The one that is used the most though is a tahini dressing that goes really well with SO many different foods. I made one for lunches last week at work and got a ridiculous amount of questions about it, so thought I should do a post on it here. I have recently noticed that most recipes on here are full meals, so I am going to start focussing a lot on sauces/dressings/sides/smaller dishes.
It is great on Buddha (Juddy) bowls, especially with chickpeas or tofu and works well as a dip for chips, in salads, over mock meats, in sandwiches or pitas etc. It is truly versatile.
Tahini is a paste made of sesame seeds and therefore is chock full of healthy fats. Essential for vegans, especially men post 30. Depending on how I am feeling, I sometimes add a teaspoon of agave to sweeten, but my standard dish is without it.
Have a go and let me know what you think.
- 3 tablespoons tahini
- 3 tablespoons boiling water
- ½ lemon, juiced
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon agave nectar (optional)
- Add all the ingredients to a sealed container or glass jar. Make sure there are no gaps at all. The dressing will look like a conjealed mess at the moment but shake the dressing for a good 20 seconds in the container and it will come together. Place in your fridge for at least 20 minutes and you will be good to go
- Get it into ya!
Radiohead “OK Computer”
Quite simply, one of the greatest albums ever made. Radiohead have gone on to World stardom since this, but it is THIS period that I really loved. Before laptops and farty drums. I love the new stuff but ‘OK Computer’ IS Radiohead to me.
